St Joseph’s Catholic School offers :

St Joseph’s is a coeducational Catholic Primary School situated in the picturesque mining town of Rosebery, in the heart of the rugged West Coast of Tasmania. As one of two Catholic schools on the West Coast, St Joseph’s serves as a strong Catholic presence in the West Coast parish, catering for children from the townships Zeehan, Rosebery and Tullah.

St Joseph’s has an enrollment of approximately 80 pupils from Kindergarten to Grade 6.

The school was established by the Sisters of St Joseph in 1958 and their tradition and charisma is proudly upheld. An environment of care and respect is evidence of the long association with the Sisters of St Joseph.

St Joseph’s Catholic School provides a Catholic educational environment where our students excel to strive and develop.

The school aims to offer quality education to all its pupils and is strongly committed to high standards in every task that is undertaken and every service offered. In this way, the school fulfills its mission.

The education offered at St Joseph’s School is an invitation to each pupil to develop to their full potential as a person. A comprehensive curriculum is implemented with specialist teachers for music, physical education and Indonesian. There is a focus on literacy and numeracy. Intervention programs cater for individual needs.

St. Joseph’s School runs a three-day kindergarten program and a prekindergarten program. The pre-kinder program runs throughout terms two, three and four each year.

The school’s facilities have been significantly upgraded during the past eight years. An ongoing five-stage capital works program has provided new and redeveloped learning areas and facilities.

St Joseph’s boasts a well resourced library, a recently refurbished school hall and eating area. We have extensive information communication technology resources which include: laptops in each classroom, interactive whiteboards in all classrooms, iPads for all Grade 3 to 6 students and a bank of 20 iPads for Prep to Grade 1 children plus an iPad for each Kindergarten Child.

Our outdoor play equipment has recently been significantly redeveloped while in the near future this area will be developed even further with the replacement of the present soft fall with artificial grass to enable year round use.

St Joseph’s endeavours to foster strong links with the West Coast parish and the community and is highly regarded in the area.

All families are most welcome to contact our school to inquire about enrollment of your child.
